Salvation is Free!
How do we make peace with the things we’ve done wrong in our lives? Is it possible to wipe the slate clean? Is there really a chance for a new beginning? How will we ever be able to move on after what we’ve done in the past? Can we get beyond the guilt, shame and sadness?? Can we look to the future with anticipation? My precious friends, the answer is yes!
God created us to have a relationship with Him. He desires oneness with us. But we have a problem. Our sinful nature separates us from God. The Scriptures tell us that we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory. Sin keeps us out of heaven and prevents us from having a close relationship with God. So, how can we experience intimacy with the Lord? Is it possible to have intimacy with the creator of the universe? How do we receive forgiveness for all the things we’ve done wrong?
I love to ask this question to people when I’m out and about. It really does get to the heart of the matter. This question will reveal what a person is trusting in for the salvation of their souls. It is: Do you know for certain when you die, that you are going to heaven? So, what is your answer? What do you think? Well, the Bible was written so that you may know that you have eternal life. He has given us a clear answer in His Word. Many people tell me that they think they are good enough to get to heaven. How could someone tell a Holy God that they think they are good enough? The Bible says that there are none righteous, not one! God’s standard is perfection. It is boastful and proud to tell the Lord that they think their good works will get them into heaven.
Scriptures on Salvation
Ephesians 2:8, 9 – “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” The verse says that it is a free gift. If I gave you a gift and you paid me for it, it would no longer be a free gift. And it clearly states that it is not by works that you are saved!! How could we ever do enough to repay Jesus for what He’s done for us? We can’t! It’s impossible.
Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” There it is again. A free gift!! It can’t be earned or deserved. And if it was based on our good works, why did Jesus have to come and suffer such a cruel death? It is because the payment for sin is death, and He took on that payment for us. He took the punishment that we deserve. That is amazing love! That is why we must depend on Him for our salvation and not our good works.
Isaiah 64:6 – “We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags.” Isaiah tells us that our righteousness doesn’t account for anything because we are infected with sin. That is our problem!
John 14:6 –”Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” We must accept Him as our Savior! He is the key to heaven!! He is our lifeline to the Father! The cross is the bridge that leads us to God.
John 3:16- “6 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We must believe that He came to the earth to die on the cross to pay for our sins. He paid the penalty for our unrighteousness – for all we’ve done wrong. He bled and died so that we could live! The solution to our sin problem is Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:8 – “ But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. “
The Sinner’s Prayer
If you haven’t asked Jesus into your heart, it’s so simple. All you have to do is say a simple prayer!
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you died for me! There is no other way to heaven except through you. I ask you into my heart. I could never be good enough no matter how hard I try. It’s not by works that I am saved. It is by your grace, mercy and love. Please forgive me for all I’ve done wrong. I repent! Please help me to follow and live for you. Help me to seek you with my whole heart (Jeremiah 29:11-12). Thank you, Jesus, for what you’ve done for me! You are my Savior and Lord!
If you just said that prayer, you’ve become a daughter or son of the King. You are a child of God! It’s an amazing thing. When you truly believe that Jesus paid for your sin on the cross, you are adopted into His family. I did that when I was just 12! And He’s guided me to where I am today! It’s been an amazing journey. There were many times that I went astray, but He’s always had His hand on me! He is faithful!
We can be assured that He is with us. Hebrews 13:5 – ”God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Isn’t that a wonderful promise? We are imperfect and we still sin! And yet, He is our Father and tells us He will always be with us. And He will help us do the right thing (Philippians 4:13)!
John 10:28 – “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” He wants us to be confident that He is always there. When we sin, He will discipline us, but always out of love because He is an awesome and amazing Father (Hebrews 12:3-11). He doesn’t want to leave us where we are. He wants to transform us and make us more like His precious Son, Jesus!
Ephesians 1:13-16 – “ And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” How about that?!! It says that when you heard the message of truth and believed, you were sealed! We are marked with the “promised Holy Spirit”! It is permanent! I love the Word of God. It is teeming with promises to help us on this journey through life. He is with us!
How do we grow closer in our relationship with Jesus? It is through prayer, the Word of God, attending church and fellowshiping with the body of believers. The more we focus on seeking His face, the more He reveals Himself to us. It is an amazing journey. He loves you so much. His love is unconditional. In I Corinthians 13:4-8, Paul tells us that love suffers long and is kind, that it bears all things, hopes all things and believes all things. Love never fails. That is Christ’s perfect love for us.
But what about the abortion?
But we’ve failed Him. We’ve gone our own way. And those choices have caused deep, hard consequences. For those who’ve had abortions they believe that it is the unpardonable sin. Abortion can’t be forgiven. But it can and it is! God died for your sin - every single one of them. In Psalm 103:12 – It says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” If He can forgive us, with His help we can learn to forgive ourselves and others. It is only through His strength and power that we are more than conquerors. We are able to overcome and rise above our circumstances because of Him and His great love and care for us.
Please know that sin leaves a painful mark on one’s life. It isn’t easy to heal from that hurt. But I have and I know that God can enable you to do the same. If you’d like to seek counsel or a post-abortion Bible study, please go to the Resources page. And please find a good, Bible-believing church to attend. You need to get into the Word and learn more about His great love for you. That is what transformed my life and it will do the same for yours! He has led me here to share with you the greatest news of all time! CHRIST DIED FOR YOU!!! Today is the day of salvation. I pray you will receive the free gift of eternal life and then seek to live for Him. There is no greater joy than to walk with the Savior. Amen!
